Lone Worker - safety of the lone worker

Course of the sample risk incident

Hazard at work
A lone worker carrying out unsupervised activities, as a result of external factors (trauma, environmental factors, e.g. gases) or a change in health, may lose consciousness, become unconscious or be unable to change his or her position and find himself or herself in a life-threatening situation. Prompt detection of such an incident and prompt referral of assistance is extremely important. Polish labour law requires the employer to periodically report an employee performing tasks in the danger zone.
1
Pre-alarm - Cyclic reporting
After a defined period of radio inactivity (conversation, device movement), the radio signals the need to confirm the employee's awareness by pressing the indicated key (report). The radiotelephone signals the obligation to report by beeping. By pressing the defined report key, the alarm is interrupted and the next standby cycle is initiated.
2
Lack of response from the employee
If an employee fails to make a report, this may indicate incapacity or lack of awareness and therefore an emergency situation. In such a situation, it is critical to INFORM about the occurrence of the DANGER, to INFORM the supervisory team, to IDENTIFY the person at risk and to LOCATE him/her, to SIGNALISE the danger. The PABLO system supervises the safety of an autonomous worker in an emergency situation.
3
Main alarm - danger signalling
1. activating a loud ALARM on the radio.
2. display of the employee's LOCATION and the incident alert on the DISTRIBUTOR'S CONSOLE.
3. VOICE COMMUNICATIONS of the occurrence of an emergency in the incident area via the intercom system.
4. sending of emergency SMS messages to the CRISIS TASK.
4
PABLO console - visualisation of the incident on a site map
The system ALARMS the occurrence of an emergency, shows the current location of the PABLO Agent on a map of the area in the PABLO Console installed at the dispatcher's station and/or other supervisory team stations. GPS LOCATION as well as in signal attenuating, underground, concrete or disturbed premises.
5
PABLO console - dispatcher station
The dispatcher or those dedicated to supervising lone workers performs the procedure prepared for a specific incident, activates the rescue teams and coordinates the entire operation. At the end of the emergency, he/she describes the course of events, leaving a permanent trace and time information of the incident.
6
Communication - a critical link in risk signalling
The PABLO system allows integration with Zenitel intercom systems, resulting in an automated process of sending voice or audio warnings in the zone where the emergency has occurred. In addition to signalling, Hytera and Zenitel systems provide extensive critical communication functionality, group and dedicated communication between fixed intercom devices and portable radios.
7
Rescue action
The PABLO system not only provides information on the location of the injured worker, but also the current location of other PABLO Agents. With this information, the plant dispatcher can actively support the crisis team with the necessary information. The most important advantage, however, is CRITICAL COMMUNICATION, which is a combination of all the advantages of a mobile PABLO System, independent of the operators' infrastructure and power supply. The level of safety is significantly increased by a well thought-out communication strategy between the DMR radio systems and the fixed intercom infrastructure.
8
Closure of the incident
The action coordination carried out by the dispatcher leaves the necessary information in the PABLO System, i.e. the time trail and location of the incident and the necessary description of the course of the incident. These are elements used in post-accident documentation or for health and safety statistics.
